HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM ORDINARY WATER FILTERS

INDEX RO SYSTEM ORDINARY UV FILTERS
• This removes all sediment to a level of 0.0001 micron. • They do up only 10 micron.
• This removes harmful solube chemicals (Organic, inorganic and other impurities). • They do not remove harmful soluble impurities/chemicals.
• This removes salt and converts hard water into soft water. Sweet in taste. • Hard water remains hard. Salt in taste.
• Reverse Osmosis removes all harmful elements such as arsenic, lead, mercury, cyanide. • They do not remove any harmful chemicals.
• This gives two output lines

1. Waste water output.

2. Dricking water.
• This gives only one line that is drinking water.
This removes 99% ++ bacteria and virus. • They inactive up to 90% bacteria depending on the flow rate for short duration.

Q: What is INDEX Home Reverse Osmosis Syeste?
INDEX RO series is a Home Drinking Water System that uses the principle of reverse osmosis to remove 95-99% of all the mineral and chemical contaminiants from raw tap water. INDEX products gives you the quality of bottled water with the convenience of a easy mounted on your kitchen.

Q: How does Reverse Osmosis differ from a Water Filter?
Ordinary water filters use a screen to seperate only particles of dirt sediment from water. Reverse osmosis employs a semipermeable membrane that removes not only particles but also an extremely high percentage of dissolved contaminants-molecule by molecule-from raw water.

Q: What is the membrane and how does it work?
The membrane consists of several thin layers or sheets of film that are bonded together and rolled in a spiral configuration around a plastic tube (This is also known as a thin film composite or TFC membrane). The material of the membrane is semipermeable: it allows water molecules pass through while acting as a barrier to dissolved solids (i.e.: mineral chemical cantaminents). When the feed water stream passes across the surface of the membrane, the molecules penetrate the membrane surface, working their way around the spiral and collecting in the center tube. The remaining contaminants are concentrated and washed from the surface of the membrane down the drain.

Q: Can you explain Osmosis?
Assume a membrane is semipermeable, allowing water to pass through while being closed to dissolved salts. Place a membrane between two compartments in a container as shown in the figure to the right. Then place a salt solution in one half of the container and pure water in the other half. Now a fundamental scientific principle coms to play. That is , two different concetrations of liquids with the same system will try to reach equilibirium (i.e. the same concentration of contaminants) on both sides of the membrane. Of course the only way for this to happen is for pure water to pass through the membrane to the salt water side in an attempt to reach equilibrium is called OSMOSIS.

Q: What is Reverse Osmosis?
Reverse Osmosis is the reversal of the natural flow of osmosis. In water purification system the goal is not to dilute the salt solution, but to seperate the pure water fromm the salt and other contaminats. When the natural osmotic flow is reverse, water from the salt solution is forced through the membrane in the opposite direction by application of pressure-thus the term REVERSE OSMOSIS. Through this process, we are able to produce pure water by screening out the salts and other contaminants.

Q: What is the actual process of the Home R.O. System?
The raw tap water first flows through a 5 micro particle FILTER[1] to remove dirt, rust and other sediment. The water then flows into a carbon briquette cartridge FILTER [2] which takes out 98% of the chlorine and organic chemicals. [3] The reverse osmosis memberane (TFC) which will separate 95-99% of the dissolved conaminants from the water molecules. The contaminants are then washed down the drain. The next stage of the process is the small CARBON FILTER [4] removes the remaining traces of chemicals , taste and odors [5]. The next stage UV filtration. The R.O. water is stored in a 10 litter TANK [6]. Now we offer you the free upgrade faucet without adding any cost.

Q: How did Reverse Osmosis get its start?
Although the idea of reversing osmosis has been known for over 10 years, the practical application is a recent development.IN 1962 the U.S Government funded the first R.O plant which processed 1000 gallons clean water per day.Today, there are more than 3000 large R.O treatment plants, each producing more than a million gallons of drinking water each day.IN 1991,the U.S Army bought 8,000 large Desal* membranes to their mobile water purification units for troops in Desert Storm.Purify flood water in the Midwest.

Q: Will R.O remove sodium from the water?
YES! Reverse Osmosis was originally designed to make sea water drinkable for the navy.It is ideal for anyone on a low sodium diet.

Q: Does R.O remove Bacteria? Cryptosporidium?
YES! An R.O kmembrane has a pore size much smaller than bacteria, virus, pyrogen microorganisms from tap water and produce sterile water.

Q: What does the drinking water taste like?
The taste of water depends on the amount of contaminants in the tap water originally. If 95% of dissolved minerals and chemicals are removed, the R.O water may taste like bottled water (low minerals) or natural spring water (moderate mineral content). Reverse osmosis is a scientific application where dissolved contaminants in water are physically removed by passing it under pressure through a special membrane. The process is similar to the way your body's cells absorb water.Reverse osmosis will remove up to 90 to 95% of dissolved contaminants such as;minerals, salts, metals and organic matter that may be present in a water supply. Pores in the reverse osmosis membrane are so small that only water molecules pass through. The contaminants are rejected and drained away.A comparison of molecular size to the pore size of the reverse osmosis membrane is shown to the right.

Q: Don't people need minerals removed from the water?
Most of the minerals that we receive are from the food that we eat.Only a very small percentage comes from the water we drink.

Q: How much water does the system use?
The system uses approximately 50/70 gallons per day, depending on the water pressure & membrane capacity. The extra water that runs down the drain is used to wash the contaminants from the surface of the membrane, prolonging its life. However the actual water flow is so slow that most water meters cannot measure the flow and the consumer will not be charged for thath water.

Q: Can I reduce the amount of water of water wasted in R.O system?
YES! The system is having an Automatic Shut-Off Valve in Model no.RO10/15/30Aawt.It shuts off all the water coming into the system as soon as it is 90% full.It turns the inlet water back on once the tack is half empty. This means the perfilter will have an extended life of 3 years instead of one. However, there are circumstances where a continuous flushing of the membrane is necessary.Consult your dealer to advice you on option.

Q: Where is the drinking water system installed?
